Beach Yoga in Croyde
Beach Yoga is listening to the sound of the ocean alongside your breathing,
At times gentle lapping, at others a roar.
It’s feeling the caress of soft breeze on your skin or a cool northerly gust and the warmth from the sun.
It’s sinking your toes down into the sand and feeling plugged in to the planet.
Sandy hands, uneven ground, steadying yourself with your own strength
Or perhaps finding your way to a new centre.
It’s being aware of distractions around you, but still feeling ever so present among them embracing it all.
It is a time for you to let the thoughts come and go, just as the clouds fly around in the beautiful blue and the realisation that this same beauty is You.
The Blue Mind theory was first popularized by marine biologist Dr. Wallace Nichols. His focus was to study the deep connection between humans and water, especially blue water.
"We are drawn to water, because we come from, and are still largely made of water. In fact, the human body is about 60 percent water, and the brain is 75 percent water."
“When you see water, when you hear water, it triggers a response in your brain that you’re in the right place.”
“There are numerous cognitive and emotional benefits that we derive every time we spend time by water, in water or underwater,”
He called it the Blue Mind and in the well-being world we sometimes call it the neutral mind, neither overly positive nor overly negative. It's Zen, it's the middle way, it's mindfulness. It's joyful, it's chill.
We have been lucky enough in May to get quite a few beach yoga sessions in already and I really hope it continues into June + July.
Monday and Tuesday evening sessions mean we catch the sun going down at the end of the class + if high tide is timed well we have been known to go in for a post yoga sea dip but of course its always optional.
Friday mornings are often followed by a dip in the sea as well as coffee and sometimes delicious breakfast @ The Beach Cafe Down End + Sunset Bar
Pregnancy Yoga on the beach is especially magical too “Highlight of my week through pregnancy” KH
When your world moves too fast
and you lose yourself in the chaos,
introduce yourself
to each color of the sunset.
Reacquaint yourself
with the earth beneath your feet.
Thank the air that surrounds you
with every breath you take.
Find yourself
in the appreciation of life.

I would love you to join me for some Yoga on the beach if you can and experience the ‘Blue Mind.’
Because of the unpredictable UK weather I always have the studio/hall booked but if its sunny and dry during June + July we will most likely be on the beach.
I will update you via email if you have booked onto a class already or via instagram + facebook :)
You can book on to a class here or find out more about booking a private session here.
Hopefully see you on the sand soon!
